Hitachi Appliances aims to create comfortable environments in such facilities as stores, office buildings, hotels and hospitals. In store and office air conditioning systems, our packaged air conditioner designed specifically for cold regions standard heating capacity of 8kw - 16kw types earned the Global Warming Preventative Activity Award of 2008 by the Minister of the Environment, Hitachi Appliances’ gas energy system* won the 2008 10th Heat Pump and Thermal Storage Technology Center of Japan (HPTCJ) Promotion Award.
Furthermore, we are at the forefront of delivering one-of-a-kind technologies through offering products such as an ice storage system using nighttime electricity, a chiller unit and compact refrigerating equipment that employs scroll and screw compressors, a highly efficient absorption chiller and a large centrifugal chiller for district heating and cooling systems.
Marking an industry first*, Hitachi Appliances has integrated a skin moisture retention function into its room air conditioners that enables skin to retain its moisture even during heating. In our newest model room air conditioners, ultra-fine water droplets (ion mist) released by the air conditioner penetrate the keratinous layer to further increase both the moisture and beauty of the skin. Moreover, this moisturizing function also protects cuticles by maintaining the moisture of hair. In contrast to ordinary humidification, this moisturizing function does not raise the humidity levels in rooms, thereby helping prevent the buildup of condensation on windows and the formation of mildew. As an additional benefit, these new model air conditioners help prevent global warming thanks to the industry's top energy-saving performance and substantial reduction in CO2 emissions. Also, just as with previous models, the various internal components of these room air conditioners use stainless steel with properties that inhibit bacterial growth and stain adhesion. This feature thus helps eliminate bacteria and prevents the formation of mold and stains on the inside of air conditioners, which is considered one of the most difficult-to-clean areas.

In line with the U.S. food hygiene control system based on HACCP standards being introduced at food processing plants, Hitachi Appliances develops and supplies low-temperature control systems to meet the needs of various facilities. Additionally, our low control technology is actively employed in many other areas such as food storage as well as amusement facilities that include ice skating rinks and artificial ski slopes.

Beginning with clean rooms used for semiconductor manufacturing, our air conditioning technology is also contributing to the development of specialized air conditioning environments in research facilities related to biotechnology, medical, chemical and other cutting-edge fields.
